Jose Cepeda was found on 60th Street and JFK Boulevard East around 11:35 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 28, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said.
He was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:23 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 29, and Wilfredo Flores has been charged with aggravated assault.
The charge stems from an interaction between Cepeda and Flores on (or about) Tuesday, Dec. 27. Additional charges may be forthcoming.
The Cause and Manner of Death are pending the findings of the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.
The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the West New York Police Department are actively investigating this case.
